How Traditional Cigarettes are Bad for the Environment
Smoking has never been good to the health of anybody. Millions of people are losing their lives annually. Smoking related diseases come with dangerous side effects that if not handled soon enough, render families less one or two members. Apart from being harmful to us, the environment is never safe as well. This article is going to focus on the scary details about how cigarettes can seriously damage the environment.
Air pollution comes in first on the list of the harmful effects of cigarette smoking. This is a fact well know to everybody. Smoking alone does not pollute the air. The air produced during the curing process of tobacco also cause air pollution. Cigarette smoke contains over six thousand types of chemicals. Therefore, you can imagine how much harmful chemical are released to the environment when one smokes cigarettes. Thanks to cigarette smoking, we have global warming. With all that, it is quite clear that the air we breathe might not be safe enough especially when people keep on smoking traditional cigarettes.
Apart from air pollution, cigarette smoking also causes fire outbreaks both at homes and forests. When such things occur, not only people suffer but vegetation and animals as well.
Cigarette butts are also responsible for the pollution of our precious oceans. Aquatic life is not safe with the toxins, chemicals, heavy metals and pesticides within cigarette butts. Researchers recently discovered that a cigarette is able to kill half the fish and other ocean creatures that are exposed to its toxins. With that said, we can only hope that people change their way and look for better ways of quenching their cigarette smoking thirst.
Cigarette smoking is also very harmful to our lands. Did you know that cigarette butt is by far the number one items discarded as trash all over the world? The fact that they are non-biodegradable makes it even worse. With the toxins and chemicals that cigarette butts boast of, it is not wrong to state that we are not safe at all.
Tobacco smoking is also an enemy to our natural soil. This is because it leaches the soil of natural occurring nutrients and minerals responsible for plant growth. That simply means that we will not be able to enjoy the benefits that come with the plants around us. In the end, this will be harmful to the native environment, flora and fauna. In short, the earth will no longer be a safe haven for both animals and plants.
In summary, cigarette smoking should be highly discouraged for the sake of the environment and the future of the world in general.
